Now The Revenant is a better movie overall, but I went in with massive expectations for that, and for the most part except visuals, and Tom Hardy it didn't hit them. I really enjoyed the setting and the wide shots of the forest. Honestly, I wish there had been less close up of the leads so even more of the forest could be seen.Natalie Dormer had a good American accent in this movie, and she gives it her all in this film. Those are really the only positive things I can say about the movie overall.

While some scenes at the end showed she could build her dread and intensity on camera, she seemed very wooden throughout most of the film. There is an inherent issue with having to work for chemistry between yourself and yourself, but there was little chemistry her with either Rob or Aiden as well. The Forest: Hallucinations and Ending Explained Jason Zada's 2016 supernatural horror film The Forest features hallucinations not of this world and a twisted ending. Here they are explained. The scares were decent, especially in the frost cave. However, and this seems to be a trend in horror, the scenes occurring outside the forest often carried a similar tone --not the dream sequences-- as some of the more sinister moments. This took away the unique atmosphere in the forest itself. If the world outside the forest is just as scary as the forest then what makes the forest so special?Natalie Dormer plays a woman who is searching for her twin sister(also Dormer) who has gone missing in Japan, last seen in a forest where everybody seems to die, but she is determined to find her no matter what, but will she find her, or will the forest drive her insane? The film does have some good scares, and Natalie Dormer does give it her all here. But the story itself feels to cut down, and actors like Taylor Kinney who play it so bland, he just does not have much to work with. The movie tries to hard and it shows, the ending does not leave much to be explained. All in all, it could have been better. Just don't leave much to enjoy all of it. Sixteen-year-old Jennifer disappears one night from her village in the Ardennes. Captain Gaspard Deker leads the investigation with local cop Virginie Musso, who knew the girl well. They are helped by Eve, a lonely and mysterious woman.

  3. Prior to Sara entering the woods, she is warned that yūrei reside within it. They are the supernatural entities that control the hallucinations she experiences that lead to her end. In Japanese folklore, yūrei are the spirits of the “ruined,” meaning anyone who has committed suicide or died in a traumatic way. As the Aokigahara forest is known for its suicides, it is a hotbed for yūrei. If one of these spirits senses a negative thought in any form, it can enter the physical world and escalate the situation to meet an end.
