18-105 or 18-135? So I've just purchased my first Alpha Camera the A6300, I've bought it with the 50mm f1.8 but I want a good zoom lens to go with it. 1. Although the Sony E 18-105 f/4 G PZ OSS was announced back in August of 2013, the first opportunity we had to use it was on the Sony a6300 this past month. Being an all-purpose lens with a very handy focal range and constant aperture of f/4, it accompanied us on a number of outings including an evening football game, a choir performance, and.
  2. Sony 18-135mm F/3.5 - 5.5 OSS lens review: For a long time, Sony paired their aps-c mirrorless cameras with the Sony 16-50mm 3.5-5.6 OSS lens, an ultra lightweight and compact lens. While cheap, small and compact, it's a lens of very poor quality suffering from extreme distortion and softness

  4. Throw the Sony 18-105 and one specialty lens (fast portrait, macro, or a wide angle) into your kit and you cover 99% of your needs. Only downsides are its bulk compared to other lenses on my A6300, f/4 (as opposed to faster lenses) and the focusing distance (you will not be taking many close ups with this one)
  5. Included with this Sony 18-105mm f/4 lens is a powered zoom that's specifically designed for use in films, yet is whisper-quiet. In addition, it lets you focus manually throughout the zoom range even when the compatible E-mount camera is running for simple shot tracking
  6. I've used and reviewed a lot of lenses over the years and I’ve grown familiar with the benefits and compromises associated with most of the commonly adopted optical designs. I've always been a great believer in owning a ‘superzoom’ or at least a telezoom with a little more reach than a regular kit zoom. The convenience of a reasonably compact lens which covers a useful focal range is undeniable. We also know that a fast maximum aperture and exacting image quality comes at a cost, both monetary and in size and weight. So it is reasonable to say that there will always be some compromises in owning a variable aperture consumer grade ‘kit zoom ending somewhere between 100 and 200mm’.
